This guide walks you through setting up MentionLab from scratch: creating an organization, building your first project, and viewing your first results.

Prerequisites

  • A MentionLab account. Sign up here if you haven’t already.
  • A brand or product you want to monitor across AI platforms.

Set up your first project

Create or join an organization

After signing up and verifying your email, you’ll be prompted to either create a new organization or join an existing one via invitation.Choose Create Organization and give it a name (typically your company name).

Start the project creation wizard

Once inside your organization, click Create Project. The project wizard guides you through three steps.

Step 1 — Project information

Fill in your project details:
  • Name — A descriptive name (e.g., “Acme CRM Monitoring”)
  • Website — Your brand’s main URL (e.g., https://acme.com)
  • Industry — Select the closest industry match
MentionLab can analyze your website to suggest relevant queries. Providing your website URL helps generate better suggestions.

Step 2 — Configure your queries

Add the questions you want to send to AI platforms. You can:
  • Write custom queries — Type questions like “What is the best CRM for startups?”
  • Use AI-suggested queries — MentionLab analyzes your website and proposes relevant questions
Assign tags to group related queries (e.g., Features, Pricing, Competitors).

Step 3 — Select AI models and schedule

Configure your analysis parameters:
  • AI Models — Select which platforms to query (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.)
  • Iterations — How many times each query runs per execution (more iterations = more reliable data, but more credits)
  • Recurrence — How often to automatically re-run your queries (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or manual)
The wizard displays an estimated credit cost based on your configuration so you can adjust before finalizing.
More AI models and higher iteration counts give better data coverage but consume credits faster. Start conservatively and scale up as needed.

Launch your first analysis

Click Create Project to save your configuration. Your first analysis will begin automatically based on your recurrence settings, or you can trigger it manually from the project settings.
You’ll see a running task indicator in the sidebar while your analysis is in progress.

View your results

Once your first analysis completes, navigate to your project dashboard to explore the results:
  1. Overview — See your brand’s overall visibility score, share of voice, and top metrics at a glance.
  2. Queries — Drill into individual query results to see which brands were mentioned and by which AI platforms.
  3. Sources — Discover which websites AI platforms are citing when responding about your industry.
  4. Competitors — Compare your brand’s performance against competitors.
